Salem-based nonprofit Punx with Purpose has a new donation spot for Salem-Keizer youth, Tony’s Corner, coming to downtown Salem this August.

Tony’s Corner, is a place “where youth can get food and the essentials that they need. People can donate and keep Tony’s memory going,” Keizer mayor Cathy Clark said.

“Tony’s Corner will be the pantry section of the Punx with Purpose site,” said Shawn Cruz, director of Punx in the Park.

According to Clark, the announcement for the dedication came at the July 29 celebration of life for Keizerite and business owner Tony Grove, held at the Keizer Elks Lodge.

The dedication comes due to Grove’s years of charity organizing and aiding local nonprofits such as Toys for Tots, The Princess Leia Foundation and Magic Wheelchairs.

“Tony’s work in the community was always youth and hunger focused,” Cruz stated.

Punx with Purpose works with local at-risk and homeless youth in the Salem-Keizer area.
