Volunteers needed for Wallace House Park maintenance

The Keizer Rotary Satellite Club and Claggett Creek Watershed Council are looking for volunteers for the Wallace House Park fall maintenance project.

The maintenance project is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. till noon, at 3535 Rivercrest Dr.

The project needs five groups of five-eight individuals. All ages are welcomed, though they ask that parents or guardians stay to sign the volunteer form if they are not participating with their child.

Groups will remove invasive plants, such as blackberries and ivy, clean up trash, seed grass and plant native species.

Volunteers are advised to bring work gloves, no open-toed footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather and water.

Work groups will meet at the north side of the park to plan and start the project.

Volunteers are asked to RSVP by emailing [email protected].

Years ago, the city cleared out the overgrowth, and volunteers from the Claggett Creek Watershed Council, Keizer Neighborhood association and others have maintained the park.
