SKSD honored for communication efforts

Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) received national recognition for its work in communications, public relations and community engagement from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

Each year, NSPRA honors the best work in school communication through its annual awards. The SKPS Community Relations and Communications Department for SKPS was awarded two Golden Achievement Awards for its 2018 bond measure awareness campaign, and “Every Day 24J” the district’s awareness campaign to reduce chronic absenteeism.

“We are so proud of the work on these two programs and we are honored to receive national recognition for our efforts,” said Director of Community Relations and Communications Lillian Govus. “Receiving Golden Achievement Awards reflect the commitment we have to communicating in effective ways with our community and ensuring we engage everyone in the work we do on these important initiatives.”

The Golden Achievement Awards recognize exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. According to NSPRA, entries are judged individually in the areas of the strategic planning process of research, analysis and planning, communication and implementation, and evaluation.
