National nonprofit Petco Love recently awarded a grant to a cat rescue and adoption center in Keizer.
Friends of Felines received a $12,000 grant from the organization.
Chelsey Marks, the rescue’s executive director, said in a press release that the funding went towards dental instruments for the shelter. This included a digital dental X-ray.
The shelter at 4157 Cherry Ave. N.E. provides services for cat rescue, adoption and spay and neuter surgeries. Marks said in the release that the rescue spends over $10,000 each year on dental care, including cleanings and extractions.
“With this generous investment from the Petco Foundation, our medical director, Dr. Nicole Hatch, will now be able to perform these vital procedures in-house at our wellness clinic, allowing us to save more lives while using our resources more efficiently,” Marks stated in the release.
According to its website, Friends of Felines in 2025 conducted 6,830 surgeries and arranged 826 adoptions.
Petco Love partners with local organizations to promote animal welfare through adoption, health care and a new program to reunite lost pets with families.
