Keizerites feasted on baked potatoes and pumpkin cookies at Saint Edward Catholic Church’s community dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
At least 50 people waited in line for potatoes and chili at the monthly event, which occurs on the fourth Wednesday.
Volunteers crowded the church kitchen, some preparing coleslaw and others washing dishes.
Keizer City Councilor Dan Kohler was among the volunteers, and he said a prayer to commence the meal. Kevin Dial, Keizer’s First Citizen of the Year in 2023, brought food to tables.
Families filled the dozens of round tables in the room, enjoying good conversation along with the free meal.
The next community dinner will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in the church’s parish hall. The church is located at 5303 River Road N.
