Keizer hosts trunk-or-treats, movie nights, and Halloween adventures for spooky season

It’s officially spooky season in Keizer, and haunted houses, costume drives, and trunk-or-treats crowd the calendar.

At Powerland Heritage Park, located in Brooks, families can take on “A Wizard’s Challenge.”

“We are creating what we believe is the most magical, non-scary Halloween adventure in Oregon,” according to an email from  Event Coordinator Joe Tracy.

The story-based event takes children across the 62-acre park, which is home to 14 independent museums dedicated to antiques.

Kids will board “a historic trolley on a quest to wake a very deep sleeper: a friendly dragon named Dream Bean. Wands will be provided.” Tracy said.

The journey ends at the trolley barn, where kids can explore the decorated space and learn about prop-making and set design from the creative scene behind the adventure.

Besides the immersive quest, the park will feature a pumpkin patch. Kids can paint pumpkins and do other Halloween arts and crafts. They can join a skeleton scavenger hunt while riding behind a steam engine.

The event runs every weekend in October, starting Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for adults and $15 for kids 2 to 12. Kids under two are free, and participants are encouraged to allot two to three hours to complete the activities.

â€śEvery single dollar from your ticket purchase goes directly to the non-profit’s mission: to help preserve and restore the magnificent historic trolley cars that once served our communities right here in Oregon,” the park’s website reads.
