The Capitol Woodcarvers will be in the spotlight next month at the Keizer Art Association gallery in the Keizer Cultural Center, 980 Chemawa Road N.E.
“Art Found in Wood,” the group’s display of wood carvings, will run Oct. 1 through Oct. 29, with a reception for the artists from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.
Woodcarving refers to a broad range of artistic styles, and the artists may use varied and multiple techniques to produce their pieces.
For example, pyrography, or the art of wood burning, produces intricate works. Carved pieces may use multiple types of wood to come together, or present carved faces drawn from the grain of the wood.
The Capitol Woodcarvers, dedicated to the preservation of this art form, promote and encourage new carvers. For more information, visit https://capitolwoodcarvers.org/ online.
