Keizer’s annual run and walk to help local veterans is scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at McNary Estates.
The event, in its fifth year, raises money to provide emergency overnight housing for local veterans.
Help Oregon Veterans, a group founded by Keizer resident Robert Wood, is organizing the event.
Registration online is now open at helporegonveterans.org for the 5K run and the 3K walk. They both launch at 9 a.m. at the practice greens of McNary Golf Course. The runners and walkers will follow a path through the McNary Estates subdivision, finishing at the practice greens.
Cost to enter is $25.
Last year, 109 people participated with $2,840 raised.
The event will begin with Mary Ann Zielinski singing the national anthem and banjo player Larry Scruggs will provide music throughout the morning.
“Come on by to set up your lawn chair by the curb of the race route and bring out your coffee, your flag and your loudest voice to cheer on the runners,” Wood said in a news release.
