Here comes the start of the school year, and with it, fall sports.

McNary High School’s Blue Day returned on Saturday, Aug. 19, as the official kickoff for the school’s fall sports programs. The day featured scrimmages and showcases from all five fall sports at every level, as well as youth football and soccer leagues.

Cross country opened the day for the McNary teams with a mile time trial run, and then action moved from the track to the turf.

Boys and girls soccer each held mixed squad scrimmages on the pitch with varsity and JV.

Inside the gym, volleyball showcased all four teams (varsity, JV, JV2 and freshmen).

Following volleyball it was back out to the stadium as football took center stage. First, the freshmen — along with a few JV players to round out the rosters. JV had its time to shine alone  after, and varsity football closed out the day.

Fall seasons officially began Aug. 23, and the first game for any of the teams is volleyball on Friday, Aug. 25, at home against Tualatin.
