City Council approves new committee volunteers

Earlier this month, the Volunteer Coordinating Committee met to review and interview applicants for two committee vacancies and a youth councilor position. Nominations were accepted and announced at the June 21 City Council meeting.

The council unanimously accepted the committee’s recommendation for four appointments.  For the 2022-2023 school year, Angelica Sarmiento-Avendano will replace Miranda Coleman as youth councilor for the city (Coleman graduated and will be attending the University of Oregon in the fall), Manpreet Sandhu will be the youth liaison to the Keizer Planning Commission, and the youth liaison to the Keizer Public Arts Commission (KPAC) will be Katherina Klein.

Lore Christopher, already a member, will be filling position 6 on KPAC beginning next month and continuing through 2025.

Keizer has more than 50 volunteers serving on more than seven committees. These positions were vacant for only a short time before being filled. All committees and commissions are open to the public.

Anyone interested in applying for a position can pick up an application at Keizer City Hall at 930 Chemawa Road NE, access an electronic version at www.keizer.org, or call/email Deputy City Recorder Debbie Lockhart at 503-856-3418 / [email protected]
