K. Juran wins council seat

Keizer businessman Kyle Juran will be filling the Keizer City Council seat being vacated by Marlene Parsons in January.

Juran defeated candidate Michele Roland-Schwartz with 51% of the vote, according to the latest numbers from Marion County. After the first round of vote tallying, Roland-Schwartz led by three votes, but Juran took the lead the following day and expanded on it.

Keizertimes reached out to Juran for comment, but he did not return the message.

On a message posted to his candidate Facebook page, Juran wrote, “ I am honored to be elected by the community to the Keizer City Council. My goal as a city councilor is city councilor is to listen to the people of the community and do my best to apply what I hear in the decisions that are made. I want Keizer to maintain the small town, close community feel that I have loved since starting kindergarten here. I want our city to be a place that my kids and grandkids will want to call home,” Juran wrote.

Juran will join fellow candidate Ross Day as the two new faces on the city council in January.
