First look at new McNary spaces

A newly constructed hallway.

Major construction is complete at McNary High School and Salem-Keizer School District is now preparing it for student use.

Unfortunately, the first time students occupy the space will be no earlier than November.

“We’re planning a virtual ribbon cutting video celebration and building tour for release around Sept. 7 or 8, “ said Karma Krause, bond coordinator.

Furniture for the new classrooms is being delivered and set up through early next week, along with floor clean-up and prep before staff enter classrooms. Equipment for the diesel bay and culinary programs is expected to be delivered next week, those two career-technical (vocational) programs expanded by the bond.

Contractors will be working through a list of remaining tasks for the next couple of weeks. Sod is currently being installed on the relocated soccer field. Parking lot paving, seal coat and striping should finish up by the end of next week.
