Former Celt coach, alum dust off dancing shoes

A former McNary High School coach and a McNary graduate will take part in Dancing with the Salem Star on Saturday, March 14.

Isaac Parker, the former Celtic football coach and current head coach of the Willamette University football program, and Conrad Venti, a McNary graduate and owner of Venti’s and Basil and Board in Salem, will be two of the featured stars.

Dancing with the Salem Stars is an annual live ballroom dance-off featuring six local stars competing against each other in a head-to-head competition of fancy footwork. The stars, who each have less than a week to learn a ballroom dance routine with a professional partner from the Corvallis-based Utah Ballroom Dance Company, will strut their stuff on stage for the first half of the event. During the second half of the show, dance company professionals will perform.

Mikki Trowbridge, Soraida Cross, Tiffany Bulgin and Collin Box round out this year’s Salem Stars.

The event supports the Salem Main Street Association. The event is being hosted by the Historic Elsinore Theater. Advance tickets are $20 to $40 for adults or $15 to $30 for students and available elsinoretheatre.com.
