Senators win Mavericks League championship

They were the league’s top offense, and surrendered the second least runs in the regular season. And while their season was up and down, the Senators finished the 2022 Mavericks League season on top.

The 9-2 win against the Mavericks in the championship game on Saturday, Sept. 3, capped off an amazing run through the final month of the season. The Senators went 11-3 in August, averaging more than 10 runs per game in that time, and moved from last place to first — giving them the regular season pennant and an automatic berth in Saturday’s game.

Senators win streak hits double digits

The late-season surge from the Senators just keeps going, as their win-streak has reached 11 games after a sweep of the Mavericks.

The streak is the longest for any team this season, and has catapulted the Senators into first place with just one week remaining in the regular season.

Volcanoes offense returns down the stretch

Coming into Friday’s series opener with the Campesinos, the Volcanoes offense had gone dormant, scoring just 26 runs in the seven games played in August.

But in their four games with the Campesinos this week, the Volcanoes offense which at one time led the league in scoring reawakened. They outscored the Campesinos 34-18 in the four game sweep.

‘Sinos and Mavs split, in thick of pennant race

The Campesinos and Mavericks split four games in their week 14 series, and find themselves both in the middle of the closely packed Mavericks League standings with two weeks to go.

The Mavericks (22-20) are just .5 games out of first. Meanwhile, the Campesinos (19-22) are just two games out, with three fewer games played than the first place Senators.
