New chief in the house

In September, Ryan Russell was named the Interim Fire Chief for Keizer Fire District by the board. Russell has been with KFD for two decades, and his start in the field has a strong connection to KFD’s roots. 

Russell started his career as a firefighter as a volunteer, though not in Keizer.

KFD and Chief Cowan offically part ways

The Keizer Fire District Board of Directors officially signed the separation agreement with Chief Jeff Cowan during the open session for the board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

KFD changes plan for September 11 remembrance

The Keizer Fire District’s annual September 11 remembrance will be toned down this year, with no official ceremony or speeches, due to increased call volume and strain on responders. There will still be a moment of silence, with the flag at half-staff, a wreath and flags to honor the fallen firefighters.
