Keizer police detectives arrested a 25-year-old man who they allege was attempting to meet a 12-year-old girl for the purpose of having sex.
Brenton Proulx, of Keizer, was lodged at the Marion County Jail where and was charged with luring a minor and online sexual corruption of a minor by the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.
Police were alerted to situation on Tuesday, June 18, when the victim’s mother discovered text messages between the girl and “16-year-old high school student” the suspect was pretending to be.
Detectives began communicating with the person sending the text messages using the girl’s phone and arranged to meet with him at a local restaurant.
The suspect agreed to meet with the person he believed was the girl later that day and detectives arrested him upon arriving at the meeting location.
