Candidates for State Senate Richard Walsh and Anthony Rosilez might get another shot at the nomination.
Woodburn Mayor Eric Swenson has announced he is declining the Democratic Party's nomination to run against Republican Sen. Kim Thatcher in the fall, and then contacted a candidate for the 6th Congressional District, Theresa Alonso Leon - a fellow Woodburn resident - to ask her if she would run against Thatcher in his place. She agreed, and has announced her candidacy.

Meanwhile, the two Democratic candidates who lost their race against Swenson - Richard Walsh and Anthony Rosilez - announced they would also be seeking the nomination in Swenson's stead. Both candidates also expressed concern that someone who did not run for the nomination might be representing the district.
More information will be made available as the facts emerge. The Oregon Capital Chronicle's Julia Shumway has more details here.
