Keizer Community Library’s summer reading program begins Saturday, June 18.
The children’s program, Read Beyond the Beaten Path, is for all children from birth through elementary school and will run through Sept. 10. Sign up begins Saturday, June 18 at the library, located in the Keizer Cultural Center at 980 Chemawa Rd. NE.
Readers and listeners will be eligible to win small prizes during the summer and a new book to keep when the program has been completed. In addition, club members will be entered into a drawing for the grand prizes; two $100 savings accounts courtesy of Maps Community Foundation, this year’s summer reading club sponsor.
Teens who join the Find Your Path summer reading program can earn a free book and will be entered into a drawing for a $100 savings account, also courtesy of Maps Community Foundation. Sign up for the teen program begins June 23 at the library.
Summer sessions begin on Saturday, June 25, when Oregon’s Reptile Man comes to Keizer Community Center at 11 a.m. to present a show geared for kids five through adult. Free tickets will be available at the library for this event beginning June 18.
Adults can join in with their own reading club, Explore New Paths. Each week will offer a secret reading challenge, with one lucky participant winning a $25 Book Bin gift card.
The weekly series, Beyond Books, happens on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. from June 29 to Aug. 17 on the patio of the Keizer Cultural Center and will feature craft and science programs.
The Children’s Educational Theater’s presentation of The Game of Tiaras is slated for July 20. Local children will also be given an opportunity to meet Joy of Living therapy dogs on Aug. 10.
The program’s grand finale will be a visit from Caesar, the No-Drama Llama on Aug. 17. Kids can sign up in person or by calling the library at 503-390-2370.
