CCC offering pre-apprenticeship program

Chemeketa Community College will continue the Campus-Based Pre-Apprenticeship Program for winter term 2022 on the Salem campus. The program allows participants to gain knowledge, skills, and experience valued by construction employers and Registered Apprenticeship Programs.

Students enrolled in the Pre-Apprenticeship program take two college classes to fulfill requirements: Trade Skills Fundamentals (APR 101) and an additional employment-related course or an internship. Participants must complete additional safety training, including OSHA 10 and First-Aid/CPR.

Pre-Apprentices receive up to $650 in tools, safety clothing, boots, and gas cards as participants of the program which is made possible from a BOLI/ODOT grant. Chemeketa provides additional support to help pre-apprentices pay the tuition and fees for the required courses in the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, including financial aid, Job Corps Scholars, and the STEP Program.

Upon completion, pre-apprentices will receive a certificate that demonstrates their completion in a Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program, college credit for courses, and OSHA 10 and First-Aid/CPR cards.

Applications for the winter 2022 program are due December 10, 2021, and space is limited. For more information on requirements or questions regarding the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, email [email protected]
