KHT show debuts this month

Keizer Homegrown Theatre’s last live show of the 2021 season will be performed live Nov. 19 and 20 at the theater at the Keizer Cultural Center.

Together, Alone is an evening of three monologues performed by three of the region’s best known actors.

Pamela Abernethy will perform Miss Havisham’s Wedding Cake, by Don Nigro. The gothic character from Dickens’ Great Expectations, Miss Havisham, steps outside herself to examine her motives and the consequences of devoting her life to getting revenge upon men after being left at the altar. A sad and funny meditation on the nature of love and the satisfactions of revenge.

In Palimpsest, Tom Hewitt plays Ben, a writer in his sixties, driving through a blizzard in the middle of the night on New Year’s Eve, trying to come to terms with his life, the women he has lost and the nature of love. A moving and intricate little labyrinth. The show is also written by Nigro.

The final monologue of the evening will be performed by Robynn Hayek in Woman Caught Unaware by Annie Fox. Hayek plays an art history professor who must decide what action to take when an unflattering naked photograph of her appears online.

Performances of Together, Alone are on Friday, Nov. 19 and on Saturday, Nov. 20 with a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance. Tickets are $15 (free with an Oregon Trail Card) and can be purchased at keizerhomegrowntheatre.org.

Masks and proof of COVID vaccination is required for admittance to the theater.
