Former Salem-Keizer Volcano outfielder Adam Duvall concluded one of the best seasons of his career by helping the Atlanta Braves defeat the Houston Astros in six games to clinch the 2021 World Series title on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
After hitting 38 homers in the regular season, Duvall started the series with a two-run homer in Game 1, giving the Braves the 6-2 victory.
In Game 5, Duvall became the first player since 1960 to hit a grand slam in the first inning of a World Series game. He also recorded a hit in five of the six games in the series.
Duvall was named the #10 greatest Volcanoes player of all time by the Keizertimes last year.
Duvall, along with reserve infielder Ehire Adrianza — who didn’t record a hit in two at-bats during the series become the 15th and 16th former Volcanoes players to win a World Series ring.
