MVC all-league list features four McNary players

McNary outside hitter Emily Lettenmaier was named first-team all-league (KEIZERTIMES/Matt Rawlings).

The McNary volleyball squad had four players earn all-league honors for their performances during Mountain Valley Conference play this season.

Emily Lettenmaier, a senior outside hitter, was the Celtics lone player to be named to the first-team. Lettenmaier led the Celtics with 243 kills and 45 aces on the season.

“Emily has been extremely effective offensively at the net,” said McNary head coach Crystal DeMello. “She’s smart offensively and makes calculated decisions about how to use her hitting strengths to our advantage. We had designed multiple plays to deliver her the ball and create one on one hitting and blocking situations.”

Senior outside hitter Maddox Snider was named second-team all-league with 213 kills. Snider was also key to the Celtics defense this season and was second on the team with 243 digs.

“Maddox has been a staple in our program the past three years as a middle blocker who played all six rotations as a sophomore and junior. Then as a senior, we were finally able to move her outside where she could be more of an offensive weapon. Maddox is an impact player, if she isn’t leading the team with kills she’s demanding and executing the ball under pressure situations,” DeMello said.

Junior middle blocker Emily Blagg received an honorable mention nod, finishing the season with 187 kills and 27 aces.

“Emily is an incredibly talented player who can hit any set along the net. She truly runs two-thirds of the net when she’s front row with our setter and uses every inch of the net to her advantage. She’s the most effective when she has a run of the net because she sees the court well and will audible a set that creates an advantage,” DeMello said.

Alexis Eldridge, a senior libero, also earned a honorable mention selection, leading the McNary defense and posting 244 digs this year.

“Lexi is a third year varsity DS/libero who constantly pushes the pace of the game and runs the back row defensively. She effectively reads the opponent’s hitters and adjusts to their tendencies defensively,” DeMello said.
