The Keizer Long Range Planning Task Force will meet Monday, Oct. 25 to discuss potential projects for the over $8 million they received from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The meeting will take place over Zoom at 6 p.m.
In August, the city received an initial $4,407,905 of the $8,815,890 they are set to receive from the act. The other half will be received in August 2022. Marion County will also receive $67,559,569 as a whole from the American Rescue Plan Act.
At the Oct. 25 meeting, the task force will discuss potential projects with the funds and the next steps. The Long Range Planning Task Force will suggest potential projects to the Keizer City Council for them to review and approve or reject.
All funds must be committed by Dec. 21, 2024 and expended by Dec. 31, 2026.
Keizer’s direct allocation is part of the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, which provides “support to State, local and Tribal governments in responding to the impact of COVID-19 and in their efforts to contain COVID-19 on their communities, residents and businesses.” The funds are eligible to be used for:
-Responding to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts. Can include assistance to households, small businesses or nonprofits.
-To provide premium pay to eligible workers performing essential work during pandemic.
-The provision of government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue due to the pandemic.
-To make necessary investments in water, sewer or broadband infrastructure.
