Volunteers needed for KeizerFEST runs

2019 KeizerFEST is approaching fast with preliminary activities happening this weekend—Keizer’s Distinguished Young Women program and the Mother’s Day breakfast at the Keizer Fire Hall. Planning is just about complete for the big festival weekend—Thursday through Sunday, May 16-19.

However, organizers are seeking a select number of volunteers for the specific KeizerFEST runs duties. They include:

• Eight volunteers to man four water stations along the 10K and half marathon routes. These volunteers will hand out water to the runners and offer encouragement as they go by. Two of the water stations are at turn around points; volunteers here fill water cups and assure that runners turn around at the correct locations.

Time commitment for volunteers for these eight spots is from 7:45 a.m. to about 10 a.m.

• Five volunteers along the 3K and 5K run route (on River Road before the KeizerFEST parade begins). One of the volunteers will be stationed at the rturn around point (Boucher Jewelers), the others will be near Abby’s Pizza to assure runners stay on course and get back to finish line. These runs start at about 9:15 a.m. and will be completed by 10 a.m.

Volunteers can contact KeizerFEST runs contact Larry Jackson at 503-580-0666 anytime from Sunday, May 12 onward.
