Two Keizer residents among fatalities in heat wave

Two Keizer residents are believed to have died as a result of the historic heat wave two weeks ago.

Temperatures reached a high of 115 degrees at their worst and shattering all previous records.

The Keizer deaths were included among 7 others in Salem and two in Woodburn, said officials with the County Medical Examiner’s Office. Drowning deaths were not included in the total. One death by drowning was reported and another man is still missing after entering the Willamette River.

Approximately 80 deaths statewide attributed to the heat.
