McNary gets victory over McKay in first home meet

The McNary girls tennis team was victorious in their first home meet of the season as they defeated McKay on Thursday, April 18.

Both teams won four matches apiece, but the Celtics edged out the Royal Scots by a score of 9-8 to seize the win. 

Lexy McKay was the only McNary singles player to win her match as she defeated Denise Hernanzez Zamora 6-1, 6-2 in the #2 match.

After losing the first set, McNary’s top singles player, Avery Haymowicz, extended the match by winning the second set 6-0. But she ended up losing the tiebreaker 6-4.

However, the Celtics took home three of the four doubles matches, starting with McNary’s #1 team of Natalia Gonzales and Gina Munguia-Martinez, who won 6-4, 6-2. 

Jorie Skipper and McKinsey Jarnagin won the #3 match 7-5, 6-1, while Ashlyn Lyda and Mackenzie Proctor took home the #4 match 6-3, 6-4.
