Keizer library honors one of its champions

Mary Sasaki

Mary Sasaki has been named as the 2019 Art Burr Library Champion for Keizer Community Library.

The library annually recognizes an individual, business or organization that makes significant contributions to the well-being of the library. This honor is awarded to Sasaki for the considerable time and talent she has consistently contributed to enhance and improve the Keizer Community Library services.

Sasaki has volunteered at the library since 2010. She has been a board member for many years and is currently the vice president.

She serves on a number of library committees including the executive committee and finance committee, helping to make financial decisions and policy. She also is the primary grant writer for the library and her hard work completing and submitting applications has resulted in the receipt of significant grants to aid the library with its work, including books for the summer children’s book clubs and library computer updates.

Sasaki is an active library volunteer in other ways including assistance with library events such as the Afternoon Tea for the Library, book sales, volunteer appreciation events and working the circulation desk.

The Keizer Community Library relies on volunteers like Sasaki to assure local library services are available to the Keizer community, including access to over 15,000 books and other media, free Wi-Fi and internet use at the Steve Prothero Computer Center, programs for children and adults, as well as classes and special events. Visit the Keizer Community Library website at: www.keizerlibrary.org and follow it on Facebook.
