A man was found dead of a gunshot wound inside a mangled van in the parking lot of the Starbucks in Keizer Station Monday, Feb. 3.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., Keizer police officers were dispatched to a parking lot in the area of 2555 Jorie Lane N..E to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Officers discovered a deceased adult male alone at the location inside the crashed car, which was pulled up over a small island in the parking lot. The beige Chrysler van was removed from the scene early Tuesday morning. Investigators found the death suspicious and not consistent with the evidence at the scene.
The man was identified late Tuesday evening as 21-year-old Oscar Martinez of Salem. An autopsy performed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed he died of a gunshot wound.
Keizer police detectives are continuing to investigate the incident but do not believe there is any risk to the public.
