Elks feed 225 local families

The Keizer Elks Lodge, in association with Gubser Elementary School, held its annual Christmas Food Charity Drive in December.

Approximately 5,000 pounds of nonperishable foods were donated by Gubser families and added to 11,400 pounds of produce donated by Willamina Future Farmers of America. Community businesses, such as Nancy Jo’s, Grocery Outlet and Weyerhouser, and an Elks National Foundation Grant for $2,500 has made it all possible.

There were over 250 members and guests that assembled and packed food boxes weighing on average 120 pounds for 225 families. Seventy five of thes families were military families who have a member deployed. The military picked up and delivered to their families and club members and guests delivered to the remaining families.
