Elementary school students squared off in the McNary kitchen pitting their homegrown recipes against each other with Celtic culinary students assisting the effort.

Fourth and fifth grade students from around the Salem-Keizer School District duked it out in the kitchen at McNary High School Friday, March 8.
More than 50 students submitted recipes to the competition. Sixteen were selected and 15 competed in the competition assisted by McNary High School students in the school’s culinary program.
Winners were: Grand prize – Sierra Hill, Keizer Elementary School; Originality – Gavin Harris – Salem Heights Elementary School; Easy preparation – Eaton Cortes Solis, Washington Elementary School; Healthy Attributes – Luis Perales III, Kennedy Elementary School.; Kid Friendly – Lilli Neria, Lee Elementary School; Taste – Josie Wampler, Forest Ridge Elementary School; Plate Presentation – Asa Scott, Myers Elementary School.

7 Celtics named to MVC baseball first and second teams
The Mountain Valley Conference named it's all-conference teams for baseball. Trevor Ratliff and Cooper Cripe represent McNary on the first team, while five more Celtics made second team and two more honorable mentions.
