Summer 2024 is winding down, as families get their vacations in before the school year begins in in less than two weeks.

The 2024 Oregon State Fair officially opens on Friday, Aug. 23 and will run through Labor Day, Sept. 2. All the elements that the public enjoys will be at the fairgrounds in Salem. Some of the 10 new rides this year include the Big Splash, Insomniac, Dune Buggy Cambo, and Black Out. With more than 50 rides to choose from, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
That plus the live entertainment and, of course, the animals…

The ribbon cutting to open the artificial turf fields at Keizer Rapids Park is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 25.
The JFK concert that was canceled in August due to weather has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7.
