Hello Keizer….

Are you ready for a parade?

The Bloomin’ Iris Day Parade will head down River Road on Saturday, May 18.

With a theme of Shake, Rattle & Roll, in commemoration of the 1980 St. Helens volcanic eruption on May 18, the parade, a part of the community’s biggest event—KeizerFEST, will feature all the elements people love in a parade: music, floats, horses and dignitaries. Greg Hammack and his Valley Credit Service, Inc., will be honored as Grand Marshal. Hammack and his business have been the main sponsor of the parade since 2011.
Sadly, Hammack passed away late last year, but he will be represented by family members and company employees.
Beside the parade on Saturday, Schreiner’s Iris Gardens is celebrating peak bloom season at the gardens this weekend and running through the end of the month. On Sunday the Keizer Fire Breakfast will be held at the Keizer Fire Halll (662 Chemawa Rd NE), from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Primary election ballots have been delivered to mailboxes. The election is Tuesday, May 21. Voting could not be easier: retrieve from the mail, make your election choices, but the. ballot back in the envelope and either mail it or drop it off at a ballot box (there is a drive-up ballot box near the entrance of the Keizer Civic Center.
