Rotary Raffle raises over $90K 

The Rotary Club of Keizer held its annual Go for the Gold Raffle Dinner and Party on Saturday, April 6, and raised more than $90,000 for club projects. 

Hundreds of attendees, dressed for the event’s theme: Tailgate Party, enjoyed a buffet dinner prepared by Jerry Crane Catering.

 State Fire Marshal gives MC Fire District #1 new pumper

Marion County Fire District #1 took receipt of a Type 3 fire engine from the Oregon State Fire Marshal last week.

The engine, part of the State Fire Marshal’s Response Ready Oregon Initiative it is one of 76 fire apparatus the Marshal will deliver this year. The equipment deliveries are made possible by a $25 million grant, part of Oregon’s wildfire omnibus bill in 2021.

The Great Junk Hunt Returns

The Great Junk Hunt will be held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in April. Dancing at Lughnasa opens April 12

Willamette University’s theater department will present Brian Friel’s award-winning play, Dancing at Lughnasa, opening Friday, April 12 at the campus’ M. Lee Pelton Theatre. The play will run through Saturday, April 27.

Learning to be leaders 

After a COVID pandemic pause, the Keizer Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Keizer program is starting anew with the first session scheduled for Tuesday, March 19.

Pedersens to open nursery in April 

As a child Kylee Blake loved being able to walk out the backdoor of her house and have acres of land to enjoy and play on. That led her and husband, John Pedersen, to purchase the property that housed Egan’s Nursery from Ellen Egan in 2023.
