In Game 5, Adam Duvall became the first player since 1960 to hit a grand slam in the first inning of a World Series game. He also recorded a hit in five of the six games, helping the Braves defeat the Astros in six games.

Council balks at new proposal
With a 6-1 vote, the Keizer City Council motioned to delay a decision to sign a contract with For the Love of the Game for management of Keizer Little League Park at the Nov. 1 meeting, requesting that the non-profit work with city staff to make amendments to their latest contract proposal.

McNary set to host North Medford in first round of playoffs
After posting a 6-3 record (3-3 in Mountain Valley Conference play) during the regular season, the McNary football squad will host their first home playoff game since 2017 as they prepare to take on North Medford at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Councilor Ross Day resigns following outburst at Nov. 1 council meeting
Following an outburst at the Nov. 1 Keizer City Council meeting that left Council President Elizabeth Smith "shocked and speechless," and Keizer Mayor Cathy Clark publicly condemning his behavior, Councilor Ross Day announced Wednesday that he was resigning effective immediately.

Oregon’s Employment Relations Board rules that Marion County committed an unfair labor practice
The board's ruling on Oct. 29 stated that Marion County's refusal to bargain with the union representing county employees after requiring employees to return to in-person work in July was unlawful and violated public employee rights. The county and union now have 30 days to find a solution.
