For the first time in school history, the McNary Wind Ensemble band is league champion after a victory at Thursday’s Central Valley Conference league contest at West Salem High School.
On the day they performed Conga Del Fuego Nuevo by Arturo Marquez, Pathways by Danielle Fisher, English Waltz by Percy Grainger and Wedding Dance by Jacques Press.
They were led by McNary Director of Bands Elizabeth Hering.
Hering noted that they have commissioned Fisher to write a new piece of music for the Wind Ensemble to perform in 2023-24.
Host school West Salem placed second, and South Salem finished third.
