Obituary: Joseph Eli Workman

Joseph Workman

December 16, 1978 – December 22, 2022

Long-time Keizer resident Joseph Eli Workman passed away at home on Dec. 22.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1978 in Stayton to James Brian Workman and Lucy Workman, who survive him.

A graduate of McNary High School (Class of 1997), Workman was chosen as Principal for the Day in his senior year.

He was employed for several years at the deli at the North Salem Fred Meyer, before he attained a job at Cascade Bakery in Salem, a job he excelled at for eight years.

His work life was stopped when he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018. He endured treatments at OHSU before he went into remission in 2020. After his remission Joseph volunteered at the summer concerts at Keizer Rapids Park.

Workman leaves many friends across the region. Many remember him as a prodigious toy collector, a fan of the University of Oregon Ducks and San Francisco 49ers.

His personality was a magnet for people; he brightened up any room he entered. He left everyone with a smile on their faces and he ended with a joke.

Besides his parents, Joseph is survived by his daughter, Olivia, sisters Sheena (Zach Proctor) Workman, Jennifer (Jeff Aas) Workman as well as three nieces Hannah, Abigail and Annabelle, nephews Elijah, Isaiah, Wyatt, Samuel and Jamison.

A memorial for Joseph Workman will be held at The View restaurant at McNary Golf Club on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. In honor of Workman, memorial attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite character/graphic T-shirt.

Flowers can be sent care of Sheena Workman, 962 Mistletoe Loop N., Keizer, 97303.
