Crystal Apple educator awards return in ’23

Educators in Keizer and Salem could be getting an apple of recognition once again.

The Crystal Apple Awards will be making a return for its 24th annual edition on Feb. 10, the first time since 2019.

The awards honor Salem Keizer Public School and private school employees in the categories of teacher, administrator and support staff.

Employees can be nominated for awards by community members, students, parents and co-workers. Nominees must be current employees with SKPS or a private school in the area, and have three years of consecutive employment prior to the 2022-23 school year.

Nominations require two to three letters of support, a filled-out nominee form and a written response to questions regarding the nominees qualifications.

Packets for nominations are due by Friday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. They can be emailed to Heidi Litchfield at [email protected], mailed to Salem-Keizer Public Schools K-12 Office, 2450 Lancaster Dr. NE, Suite 200, Salem, Oregon 97305 or hand-delivered to the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce at 1110 Commercial St. NE.

The Crystal Apple Awards was started by the now-defunct Salem-Keizer Education Foundation. This year, the awards are part of a partnership between SKPS and the Salem Chamber of Commerce.
