Jocelyn Schnurbusch stood tall atop the podium following the junior varsity girls 5,000 meters team race.
The freshman’s time of 20 minutes and 23.70 seconds was more than 24 seconds faster than the second place finish at Saturday’s Northwest Classic at Lane Community College. Schnurbusch’s finish was the first top finish for a Celtics runner this season.
As a team, the Celtics finished seventh out of 20 in the race.
McNary was one of 67 Oregon high schools, also joined by one California school, to take part in the event. The Celtics finished in the top-10 of team results for all four of the races the Celtics took part in.
Also finding a place on the podium for the Celtics was sophomore Brayden Kaehler in the JV boys 5,000 meters team with a fifth place finish at 17:30.50. McNary finished ninth out of 32 schools.
McNary cross country hosts Sprague on Wednesday.
