McNary announces Connor Astley as new football head coach

Just eleven days after then head coach Jeff Auvinen announced he was stepping down from the position, McNary High School announced on Thursday that Connor Astley has been named the new head football coach, the school announced in a press release.

Astley has been a part of the McNary football program since 2018 when he was an assistant coach. In 2019, Astley became the head coach of the junior varsity team at McNary.

“Coach Astley shows great promise to expand the pride and tradition at McNary and instill character, strength and honor values to the football program,” the press release read.

The Celtics’ season begins Aug. 26 at the jamboree at Tigard High School, and the first regular season game on Sept. 2 at Lakeridge High School.
