Senators 6-game streak snapped, still league’s top scorers

After a 16-3 win on Thursday, the Senators had their six-game win streak snapped by the Mavericks on Friday, June 17.
The Mavericks scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning — the last frame of the shortened game after a two-hour rain delay to the start. Rey Gonzalez singled in two runs to tie the game, and Chase Bessard doubled in two more to take the lead.
The Senators finished off their week with a 9-8 comeback win on Saturday, trailing 7-3 after four innings.
Angeddy Almenzar had four RBIs on the day, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning that cut the deficit to one.
Then in the seventh, down 8-7, the Senators scored two to take the lead, capped off by Kenneth Peoples-Walls singling Matt Lokken.
The Senators finished week six still the highest scoring team in the league with a differential of +33 after Monday’s makeup game.
Volcanoes erupt in sweep of Campesinos

The Volcanoes swept the defending champion Campesinos, highlighted by a 20-run explosion on Saturday, June 18.
Juan Carlos Abreau was 4 for 6 with three RBIs and two runs scored Saturday which included an eighth inning three-run homerun in the 20-8 win.
Matt Holiday also had a three-run shot for the Volcanoes on Saturday, a second inning blast that made the game 5-0. Holiday finished the day with four RBIs and three runs scored.
The vast majority of the Volcanoes offense for the week came on Saturday. They scored only nine runs combined in the other two games of the week, a 4-2 win on Friday and a 5-3 win on Sunday.
Catcher Jacobi Allen was hot in limited play for the Volcanoes. He was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the two games he appeared in, starting one.
At 9-5 the Volcanoes are in first place, a game ahead of the Senators, with a run differential of +32.
Rain remains days before the solstice

Just four calendar days from the official start of Summer and the Mavericks League still finds itself dealing with weather problems.
Delays were back on Friday, June 17, as rain once again pushed back first pitch. And while the clouds cleared leading up to the new 3:30 start time for the Senators and Mavericks game, the rain returned for part of it.
Umbrellas were needed in the crowd as rain fell, driving some fans towards the minimal overhangs of Volcanoes Stadium, and leading to a brief delay for maintenance on the mound.
It looks like clear skies for the rest of the Mavericks League season, but just give it five minutes.
