One McNary High School student received and two others were finalists for the first Charles Lee Memorial Scholarship for Hope presented at the Career and Technical Career Center on Thursday, May 5.
Layton Frakes, a senior, was presented with a $5,000 scholarship. He will become an apprentice at Cascade Steel, in McMinnville, on his path to a career as a millwright.
Jordan Orr and Stephanie Ruiz Macias, both seniors, were finalists for the scholarship and each was honored with a $100 prize.
Frakes also received $500 from Krina Lee, the late Charles Lee’s wife, to help maintain his car for the 63-mile round trip to McMinnville.
