Celts tennis teams host final home matches

The McNary boys tennis team hosted their senior day on Thursday, May 6, against Corvallis while the girls team played their final home match of the season on Monday, May 10.

Even though the boys match wasn’t finished due to rain, the Celtics won two of the four completed matches. McNary freshman Caleb Skipper defeated Jasper Baumgartner 6-1, 6-2 in the #2 singles match while the duo of Carson Long and Evan Cornell won the #2 doubles match 6-4, 7-5.

The girls team, on the other hand, defeated Central 5-3, thanks to winning three of the four doubles matches.

The #1 duo of Kelly Candland and Melia Wells won their match 6-3, 7-6 while Marisol Ramirez and Karla Martinez took home the #3 match by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Allison Candland and Kianna Staley won the #4 doubles match 6-3, 6-2. 

Despite losing her first set, Emilie Vu Magee came back to win the #2 singles match 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 —Central forfeited the #4 singles match to give McNary their fifth win.
