McNary has good showing in first home meet

The McNary boys and girls track teams won seven events apiece in their first home meet in nearly two years on Monday, April 26.

The Celtics girls team swept both hurdles events with Isabella Walker winning the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.9 seconds and Olivia Cartwright taking home the victory in the 300m hurdles (time not available). Walker was also victorious in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet-9-inches.

Kennedy Buss won the discus with a personal-best toss of 102-8 — which was the farthest throw of anyone at the meet. Buss also took home a win in the javelin (82-11). 

On the boys side, Axel Zapien Sanchez won the 200m (24.1) and the 400m (54.6) for the second meet in a row. 

Dyami Rios won the 100m with a career-best time of 11.3 seconds and Connor Roop got the victory in the 3000m with a personal record of his own (9:43.5). 

Gulian Campos took home the win in the only field event for the Celtics, winning the discus (102-2).

Both McNary team swept victories in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. 

McNary will return to the track on Monday, May 3 to compete at West Salem. Events start at 3 p.m.
