COVID-19

Modified community dinner planned

The Keizer Community Dinner will return Wednesday, May 27, but with several changes in place.

This time around, meals will be served to-go from 4 until 6 p.m. or until the food runs out. The meal site will remain the same, St. Edward Catholic Church, 5303 River Road N.

“We will be having people enter at the traffic light [at Sandy Drive North] and drive around the complex where we will provide take out dinners, handing them to people in their cars,” said Dan Kohler, a member of the dinner committee.

There will be attendants on site to help direct the flow of traffic.

Thrivent Financial team members will be serving dinner this month.

The plan is to continue to serve community dinners in this format until orders put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 are eased.

“We know this will be a deviation from past dinners and we will be losing one of the great blessings of the meal, getting to visit and get to know friends and neighbors,” Kohler said.
