Margaret Rose (Pardo) Knowlton, age 88, went to be with Jesus on April 2, 2020. She died of natural causes at Adoracion Care Home. She was born in Hubbard, Ore., July 2, 1931 an identical twin and raised in Salem. After graduating from Salem Academy in 1949, Margaret went on to attend Northwest Nazarene College.
Margaret married Frank Knowlton on Nov. 27, 1954. They had three daughters: Diane, Debbie, and Carol. She had various jobs ranging from the Statesman Journal, telephone company, and Salem-Keizer Schools, but her favorite job was wife and mother. Margaret was a longtime member of Salem First Church of the Nazarene. Her other joys included painting, gardening, camping, traveling, baking pies as well as spending time with family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Frank, Sisters Marie Young (twin), Ruth Hardwick, and Donna Collier. She is survived by sisters Shirley Jackson, Nancy Flook, and Mary Jo Sikorra, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Bill Lien, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Bryce Hochhalter, and daughter and son-in-law Carol and Steven Ritchie, grandchildren Kyle, Erika, Ryan, Travis, Rabeka, Shanan, and Breana, as well as three great-grandsons Zak, Benny and Christian.
A celebration memorial is tentatively planned for July 2 at 2 p.m., at Salem First Church of the Nazarene.
