Behind the scenes this week, Salem Health staff have been creating and bagging mask-making kits — enough for almost 10,000 masks.
Here’s how you can help:
Pick up a kit at one of the locations below. Stay in your car; we will bring them out to you.
Each household may take up to two kits; each kit has material for 30 to 50 masks. Plan on each mask taking 30 minutes to start — they go faster once you get the hang of it!
Continue social distancing. Please do not host mask-making parties with friends and neighbors or ask to pick up a kit to take to someone else. It is vital that we do not allow these kits to spread germs.
Follow the instructions included with the kit and in the video below.
Return your completed masks to a drop-off location within a few days.
Materials
Kits include surgical paper fabric, instructions and a bag for your finished product. In addition, you will need:
Sewing machine
Thread (white)
Scissors or rotary cutter
Yardstick, straight edge or cutting mat
DO NOT use your own fabric – only use the material provided.
