Volunteers sought for several city council advisory boards

The city of Keizer is accepting applications for volunteers to be considered on the following committees.

Keizer Points of Interest Committee – the committee identifies, authenticates and memorializes sites of interest located in the Keizer area. Sites to be identified may be historical, geographical, botanical, or unusual. 

The committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. (two vacancies).

Budget Committee – responsibilities include assisting the city council in the examination and analyzing of proposed budgets for Keizer. Applicants must be registered voters in Keizer. 

The committee meets in May of each year to review the annual budget (two vacancies).

Parks Advisory Board – the board reviews and studies issues that involve development and maintenance of city parks and makes recommendations to the council. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. (four vacancies).

Stormwater Advisory Committee – members of this committee review guidelines and make recommendations to the city council on the development of ordinances pertaining to illicit discharge detection and elimination, stormwater runoff control and stormwater management.

The committee seeks applicants who have experience in the development or building industry; however it is not required. The committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 4 – 6 p.m. (one vacancy.

Traffic Safety/Bikeways Pedestrian Committee – this committee is responsible for reviewing traffic safety issues in Keizer and making recommendations to the city council for improvements. Members may also make recommendations for future locations of bike lanes in the city and work to promote bicycle safety and use throughout the community. 

In addition to the monthly committee meeting, there may be other events which require extra volunteer hours. The committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall (two vacancies).

Youth Committee Liaisons – Opportunities are currently available to high school students for service on various city committees. Check the city website under the heading Volunteer Information for more information to apply.

Applications received by Wednesday, Oct. 9 will be considered at the Thursday, Oct.17 Volunteer Coordinating Committee meeting.
