Dolores Ione (Haeger) Young of Keizer passed away of natural causes on June 5, 2017. Young was born March 25, 1935 to Henry and Inez Haeger in Olympia, WA.
Her early years were spent in Olympia and Tonasket, WA; she graduated from high school in Arcata, CA, where she had been a cheerleader and honor student. She also attended Santa Rosa Junior College. She was a contestant in regional preliminaries for the Miss America pageant.
Dolores married Gary Young on Feb. 26, 1955. They moved to Keizer in 1964 and had three children.
Dolores worked with the Salem-Keizer Schools including the old Keizer Elementary, Gubser and South Salem High School. She retired in 1986.
A gifted artist, Dolores enjoyed many hobbies. She was involved with Mennonite Central Committee, Keizer Young Life and Keizer Rotary Foundation. She loved God and her family. She was a true and trusted friend by many. She and Gary were long-time members of Salem Alliance Church.
Dolores lived the last year of her life as a resident at the Village at Keizer Ridge.
She is survived by Gary, her husband of more than 62 years, daughters Athena (Danny) Wold and Arlene (Barry) Janusch, son Anthony Young, son-in-law Brad Swingford, grandsons Ryan (Kayla) Swingford, Max (Allison) Janusch and Eli Janusch, granddaughter Lani (Jake) Newell, great grandsons Clark Newell, Clive Newell and Wyatt Swingford.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, Salem Alliance Church.
