Lady Celt soccer cruises to 5-1

HOWALD Of the Keizertimes The McNary High School girls varsity soccer team continued its upward arc with a pair of wins last week. “It just felt like the vibe was good and everyone was playing off of each other in both games,” said Lady Celt Jessy Shore. Shore scored a hat trick in McNary’s Greater Valley conference opener, a 5-1 win over North Salem High School Friday, Sept. 25. Prior to that, the Celtics beat Roosevelt High School 5-0 Tuesday, Sept. 22. Both Shore and teammate Kayla Evans said developing connections off the field is translating into wins on the pitch. “I think we’re bonding more off the field and it’s helping on the field. We used to just pass the ball and leave it out there for someone else to chase, now we have a lot more direction and purpose,” Evans said. Shore added that the change is a welcome one from last season. “Last year, we were a little disconnected. We used to just pass each other in the halls during school, but now we stop and talk.
