Volcanoes take series 4-1, lead South Div.

By HERB SWETT For the Keizertimes Salem-Keizer won the series from Everett four games to one, going into the all-star break with a 5-2 second-half record and the South Division lead. July 29: Volcanoes 5, Everett 4 (10 innings) It was the first win, against two losses, in an extra-inning game for Salem-Keizer this season. A walk-off single by Miguel Gomez with Ronnie Jebavy on third base ended the game. The winning pitcher, Caleb Smith, struck out four and walked one with no hits for his two innings. The AquaSox, in town to start a five-game series, scored all their runs in the first inning. The Volcanoes came back with one run in the first and scored twice in the fourth before tying the score in the seventh with a home run, his first of 2015, off the rapidly improving bat of John Riley. Kyle Wilcox, who has been one of the top closers in the Northwest League, took his first loss of the season. July 30: Volcanoes 8, Everett 2 The Volcanoes led all the way, scoring a run in each of the first four innings before Everett scored its two in the fifth.
